Possum Kingdom Lake
The beautiful Possum Kingdom Lake is less than a 30-minute drive from Strawn. This Texas gem nestled in rolling hills, boasts more than 18,000 acres of clear water and magnificent cliffs.
Possum Kingdom Lake and the surrounding area offer all kinds of outdoor activities: boating, fishing, diving, swimming, golfing, cycling and hiking.

W. K. Gordon Center
The W. K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas, a research facility of Tarleton State University, is a combined museum and special collections library. The W. K. Gordon Center is located at the site of the Thurber, Texas ghost town. Interactive exhibits explore the birth and death of a company town. Stroll past reconstructions of the mercantile store, the livery stable, the town bandstand, the 655-seat opera house, and the Snake Saloon, which boasted one of the largest horseshoe-shaped bars in the country.
